As stewards of our nation’s infrastructure, we need to help educate the public on this vital underpinning of society. This week, dozens of major national organizations — including ASCE — are working to remind the public and policymakers of the essential role infrastructure plays in our quality of life, and of the need to invest in its upkeep. What can you do to help? Spread the word in your communities.
Many activities are taking place in Washington, D.C., from a kick-off event at the Newseum to a full day conference focused on how governments can be promoters of innovation at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, there are plenty of opportunities to learn more about important infrastructure issues. You’ll also find events focused on infrastructure investment, high speed rail technology, the economic impact of transportation and how an outcomes-based regulatory system could make an impact.
If you are not in DC, many events can be followed online, including via the Twitter hashtag #RebuildRenew. To read more about Infrastructure Week plans and find the schedule of events, take a look the post on ASCE’s blog, Save America’s Infrastructure. Please help us spread the word about the events in DC or the online events which are all available to everyone.
How have you helped raise awareness of our infrastructure? Are there other community events you’d like to share?
